WW1 Poster

1. I would define propaganda as an advertisement to get people to support/get involved in something. Seems to be used mainly in times of war

2. propaganda-information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.

4. Upon looking at all the images, one realizes immediately that all of the posters have a woman as the main character. 2 of the backgrounds all depict times of war with things such as soldiers, while the other seems to be a showing a nursing school that the poster is advertising. The images seem to be reaching out to you, trying to get you to come.

5. I believe the artist wanted women to see the posters and become motivated in themselves, thinking they can escape the typical household like jobs of women, while helping the country in times of war.

6. The ideal target is women without jobs. The careers the posters are showing don't require tons of education, which is convenient because many women at that time had very little education.

7. Im am comfortable with the idea because it helps you form your own opinion on the situation. Also helps you become aware of what is going on, which could also provide opportunities for you and others.

8. At the time some might not have known much about the war going on and the government felt the need to bring awareness to the people. The government also needed people and money, and with the posters advertising jobs opportunities people became aware of the openings and also of things such as war bonds. At that time women didnt work as much so the government knew they were potential employees and invested in the posters in order to get the workers they needed.
